Return 18:00

Your tour will begin by visitingthe Excavations of Akrotiri with professional English speaking guide. Often compared to Pompeii, Akrotiri boasts a much earlier age and preserves amazing ruins dating back to the second millennium BC. Walk through the well kept passage way in the excavated area and marvel at the beautiful pottery, the two and three story houses, which were once decorated with renowned wallpaintings, the staircases and a great variety of rooms, roads and squares of a city 3,500 years old!

Return to your motorcoach and continue on to the Red Beach, well known for the unique colour of the sand and the hill behind it. Soaring red lava cliffs which drop right to the sandy shore and into the clear blue sea, make for a majestic setting and one to enjoy. 20 minutes stop for photos.

Next stop, Perivolos - also known as the black beach - where you will have free time for lunch or swim. Following, you will visit the village of Megalochori meaning big village in Greek. It is made of hundreds of small white painted houses built the one upon the other and it is characterized by its beautiful churches. It combines traditional architecture with vaulted houses and calderimia (stone-cobbled narrow pathways) and a lively community with a fairly large permanent population. Megalochori is the center of the wine industry of Santorini and it is surrounded by vine yards. You will have a 30 minutes stop to explore the village.

After Megalochori you will visit the village of Pyrgos. Pyrgos was built on the top of a hill and was until the early 1800, the capital of the island. The village is composed of traditional houses built around the Venetian Castle and the small streets follow the shape of the hill.

Last stop at Santo Wines where you will have the chance to taste 3 local wines. Santo Wines is the biggest winery in Santorini. Due to its location on the caldera, you will have the opportunity to combine wine tasting and enjoying the beautiful view.

SANTORINI PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR (4 hours)

Visually, Santorini is the most spectacular of the isles in the Cyclades. With its brilliant flooded caldera, high cliffs and charming villages, it is the Greek Isle of everyone’s dreams. Our tour will take us to Santorini’s highest peak, crowned by the Mount Profitis Ilias Monastery. At 883 feet, Mt. Profitis Ilias rugged landscape is largely composed of volcanic rocks as a result of hundreds of eruptions during the last two million years, some of them being large caldera-forming events. Here, in this remote spot, we’ll have an ideal photo opportunity to capture the beauty of this ancient island.

We’ll discover the village of Pyrgos, which was the capital of Santorini until 1800. Here we’ll be able to admire the beautiful old houses and the Venetian Fortress crowned by several churches.

Our half-day tour then takes us to one of the island’s most famous traditional wineries. Viniculture is an ancient art in Santorini, and the fact that vines thrive at all is amazing considering the fact that the island has limited water resources. But the volcanic soil is an excellent medium for producing grapes, especially the Assyrtiko grape – a rare, white variety.

After our visit, we’ll drive through the countryside to visit Oia. This traditional Greek village of whitewashed cubes is perched impossibly high on cliffs at the north west tip of the island. Here, take in the stunning views of the island from one of the charming cafés or stroll above the rooftops of the homes carved into the cliffs and gaze into the deep blue waters of the caldera far below.

From Oia village, we’ll return to the cliff top town of Fira. Our tour ends here.
